We're Renovating

We’re renovating to give You an even better experience at MAPS.

Starting February 16, we will begin creating a new café and a more open arrival area.

The renovation will provide the museum with a more open and welcoming entrance area, where the transition between the city and the museum becomes clearer and more inviting. Together with a café designed to encourage people to stay, talk, and take a break, we are creating a space you can enjoy both before and after your museum visit.

The new café and entrance area are expected to open in Week 12.

DURING THE RENOVATION:
During the renovation period, there will be a few temporary changes when you visit us:

Access to the museum will be via the main entrance and then through a passage to the rotunda, where the ticket desk will be temporarily located.

At times, there may be light noise and minor inconvenience related to the construction work.

We will ensure clear signage, and our staff will be ready to assist and guide you throughout your visit.

To make your visit as pleasant as possible during the renovation, self-service coffee, water, and cookies will be available in the lecture hall for a limited period.

Thank you for your patience. We very much look forward to welcoming you soon to new, more open, and
improved surroundings.

15 Minute Intro

Use MAPS in a new way. Instead of taking in everything at once, we recommend diving into The Story of Public Art bit by bit – one project at a time.

Every Saturday at 12:15, we offer a short introduction of one of the 90 art projects featured in the exhibition. Hear the ideas behind a groundbreaking – and often temporary – public art project from the 1950s to today. Many of these projects no longer exist out in the world and can only be experienced here at MAPS. Each week, a new project is in focus.

Pair the introduction with a lunch in the café beforehand – or coffee and cake afterwards.
Keep coming back each Saturday until you’ve heard the full story of art in public space.

Duration: 15 minutes. Price: Free with paid admission.

Want the full story? Buy an annual pass for MAPS and get free access for a whole year.
